Summary: Best Graphics ever, hiperrealistic doesn't begin to cover it!!!!
Date: 2009-01-04 -
Comment: If you have a good computer that can run this game and you liked Far Cry, purchase this game NOW!!!. The world graphic detail is so amazing you won't believe your eyes. Do not doubt it for a second Crysis is a technological achievement without par in the gaming or for that matter the entertainment industry... The person who thinks games aren't art has to play this game. No other piece of art is so detailed or inmersing as this one... For example I was walking down a (gorgeous) beach and I saw a galapagos turtle from far away walking about. The beaches and hills are full of life. The cars are drivable and feel very realistic, the weapons and kills are extremelly satisfiying. The suit addition is also great fun. The story is not intrusive, and the action, gunfire and explotions are unbelieveable. Mi wife thinks videogames are silly until she saw the level of realism and beauty this game has... This game surpases the graphics bar that no other game had touched since Far Cry... Can't wait to play Far Cry2!!!! In my opinion Crytek and Valve are at the top of First Person Shooters, leaving my old favorite company ID creators of DOOM far behind... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Summary: Do not buy this game (unless you like to be frustrated)
Date: 2009-01-04 -
Comment: It's unfortunate that this game is known as the first DX10 game made. It really doesn't say much for DX10. While the graphics are OK, this game simply requires too many resources to play it. Of the 5 people I've talked with face-to-face, their immediate response when I told them I bought the game was "Oh, the game you can only play with a supercomputer." No kidding! After changing every setting to low and struggling my way through most of the game, I finally got to the end of the game and it simply kept randomly freezing up, even after applying patch 1.2. This game has been fun to play at points, but frankly is very frustrating. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

Comment: Crysis is...well, Crysis, I have never played a game like it.
Pros - Gorgeous graphics, environments are highly interactive, playing the game is alot of fun, customizable weapons, a very usefull nanosuit.
Cons - NEED A SUPERCOMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!
Touch on the last part, if you have a very good computer and are a fan of the FPS genre, then do not hesitate to get this game.
My new gaming PC had some problems running this game on high/very high settings @ 1280x1024 with 2xAA.
My computer specs are:
Nvidia 780i motherboard
Intel Q9650 @ 3.40 Ghz
Nvidia 280 GTX (Overclocked)
4GBs of RAM @ 800 Mhz
If you have a moderate PC then you can run this game, but be advised, the framerate is very inconsistant. If your PC barely meets the minimum speculations, forget about this game until you have a new computer.
Singleplayer
The singleplayer in Crysis is the products main feature. It takes about 12 - 15 hours depending on the difficulty of play. The singleplayer is highly replayable because of the open level design. Crysis looks to set itself apart by its level design. You are not hauled down one hallway or specific path in this game, instead you are thrown into a sandbox where you can approach your objective as you see fit.
Another thing I like is the fact that the weapons are customizable. You can attach scopes, silencers, grenade launchers, lazer sights, flashlights, and even use differt types of amnunition. I ended up turning each of my weapons into somewhat of a sniper rifle, picking off soldiers at a distance.
The nanosuit is also a neat mechanic of the game. It has the settings of armor (soaks up damage from enemies), cloak (makes you invisible), speed (the use of this is obvious), and strength (allows super high jumps, super damaging punches, my personal favorite: throwing random things into enemys, or even picking them up). It further allows you to play the way you wish.
Finally, the AI in this game is quite good. They know how to use cover, and take cover when being shot at. They try also to outmanuver you. Though sometimes there are problems, overall the AI is good.
Multiplayer
If you are buying Crysis for the multiplayer, buy Crysis: Warhead instead. The multiplayer has only five maps, and while it is very fun. It seems hindered by the small amount of maps. Crysis: Warhead, on the other hand has 26 maps, but its singleplayer is disappointing. It comes down to what you want in a game.
Graphics - 10/10
Gameplay - 10/10
Sound - 8/10
Multiplayer - 8/10
Value - 9/10
OVERALL - 9.5/10 - Outstanding

Summary: Some flaws/glitches.... but XBox 360 controller works quite well
Date: 2008-12-14 -
Comment: UPDTAE: I was getting a horrible clicking sound from the DVD drive when this disc first started up. I upgraded the firmware and the clicking sound went away.
*****
I had a hard time finding online a review/statement that said if the XBox 360 controller hooked up to the PC would work well with this game: it does. I still have to use 'z' for prone and 'j' for drop weapon, but just about everything else can be found on the controller. And before they say it: YES, most hardcore gamers could/do use the keyboard and perform certain functions faster than the XBox controller.
I did, however, find that flying the VTOL was much more responsive and easier with the keyboard.
Walking is slow, and sprinting is the equivalent of what walking should be. A hack for this and other traits is possible.
A lot of effort was put into the environment and the little things you tend to find here and there. I didn't find it too repetitive or blocky, though others may disagree.
More effort should have put into the the hit points and hit areas for the enemy. What I found:
- head shots do not always kill an enemy (aside from the sniper rifle),
- some enemy can take up to three or four clips of ammo to bring down, whereas the guy next to him goes down with a shot to the chest. Those that wear a beret or camo head gear take more shots to bring down, sometimes up to a dozen head shots,
- shooting the back of the head is nowhere near as effective as the face,
There is also some missing AI when it comes to you slowly walking up to a group of enemy in the pitch dark: they always see you coming, even if their back is turned. Not very realistic. You have to prone-crawl your way up to them in order to hide, or use the cloak. Basically, you could be 100 yards from the enemy in near-total darkness and they always have a bead on you, even if you are in heavy brush or behind a rock.
You could be prone in the middle of a wide dirt path in daylight and they would walk right by you.
The vehicles are nerfed quite a bit. Keyboard is easier to maneuver them. Better vehicle controls in Halo 1+2 with the controller than in this game.
The helicopters are way more durable than they need to be. An rpg can demolish a building, but do nothing to a helo? It takes two shoulder rockets to bring down a helo, and a glancing blow does not count, it has to be dead on. In one part, the doors open on a helo and you can launch a rifle grenade or throw one inside it and that will do the trick, but shooting a grenade at the underside does nothing.
The jellyfish-looking alien things are kind of lame, enough said there.
BLOCKING INTERNET REQUESTS:
Yes, you can block the game from connecting with EA and nothing will happen to your game. I use AVG, and have chosen to permanently block the game's request to access EA -- no problems with the game. I say this because some have written that you have to have an Internet connection to use the game... not so.
So, a lot has been put into the environment of the game, but some realistic interaction could be improved upon.
Summary: No support

Comment: This game was great to play. Unfortunately the official patches refused to work. I can still play this game but only at original retail version.
EA has been no help at all. They really dont seem to care.
I will be avoiding EA games in the future. EA PC games just dont seem to work right anymore and Iam tired of wasting my money on games that wont work.
